Campus Security Authority
Under the Clery Act, certain crimes that occur within Clery-defined geographical areas reported to a “Campus Security Authority” must be included in the institution’s crime statistics. A Campus Security Authority includes campus police or security department; any individual or individuals who are responsible for campus security but who do not constitute a campus police or security department; any individual or organization specified in an institution’s statement of campus security policy as an individual or organization to which students and employees should report criminal offenses; and an official of an institution who has significant responsibility for student and campus activities, including, but not limited to, student housing, student discipline, and campus judicial proceedings.
If you are a Campus Security Authority or not sure if you are and you need to report a Clery Act crime, you may call UPD at (662) 915-7234, report via email to email@example.com or you may submit a Campus Security Authority Incident Report Form. If there is any doubt as to whether a crime is reportable, you should err on the side of reporting the matter.
